How to organize and lead change

No matter what change(s) are pending in your company; Digitization, relocation/outsourcing/carve-out of parts of the company.

For (sustainable) success, it is crucial that you can accurately assess yourself and the performance of your employees/organisation, with all their strengths and weaknesses.

The following 10 points should help you with this:

  1. Do you have a vision? Have you made sure that all of your employees know where the entrepreneurial journey should go?
  2. Are you a "consultant-believer" or do you also rely on your own judgement/knowledge of human nature?
  3. Do you know exactly where your employees are right now? What fears, resistance, insecurities exist?
  4. Do you recognize the need to only achieve a sustainable, resilient change if you have convinced your employees of it?
  5. Do you really know who are the promoters of your idea and who are the blockers? Have you also decided how to deal with both groups?
  6. Are you actually convinced that you can successfully and sustainably implement this change with your own staff? Do your employees even have the necessary experience for this? Have you considered that you could also "burn"/demotivate good employees by doing this?
  7. Do you already have experience with change yourself? (not only professionally but also privately, e.g. through divorce)
  8. Have you really learned from this change what you want to do differently in the future?
  9. Are you really aware that change can only succeed if you constantly lead the way and act as a role model?
  10. Are you ready to admit that you don't know/can't do everything on your own and need external help?

4 principles for those willing to change

If you want to break the rules, you have to know them!

  • First: Exemplify professionalism.
  • Second, gain status and understand power.
  • Third: Work out your standing and only then step out of line.
  • Fourth: Find allies and promote them.
